Samsora places top-16 at Frostbite 2019
It wasn’t exactly the weekend that Ezra “Samsora” Morris had hoped for at Frostbite 2019, despite placing in the top-16 out of over 1,200 players in the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate singles event.
After starting out strong in the first round of pool play, Samsora stumbled in the second wave of pools, falling 2-1 in a best-of-three series. From there, the Peach main would be sent packing from the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Detroit with only one more loss.
With a loss under his belt, Samsora went on to win five consecutive matches before a matchup with MVD of World Best Gaming proved to be too much, losing 3-2 in a best-of-five tilt.
Next up is a trip to sunny Los Angeles for the Smash Ultimate Summit.
PUBG finishes fourth in NPL Royale
In a midseason break from the NPL, eUnited placed fourth at the NPL Royale at OGN Studios in Manhattan Beach, Calif., claiming $5,000 in the process.
The Royale event featured all teams from both the NPL and the NPL Contenders leagues split into two qualifying groups for a prize pool of $80,000 during Sunday’s grand finale. In order to make the cut for Sunday’s finals, the team placed inside the top-8 (seventh) out of 16 teams during Friday’s pool play event.
After Game 1 of the finals, eUnited found themselves sitting atop of the leaderboard after racking up 10 kills en-route to a second place finish in the lobby. However, a couple of low scoring performances hurt the team in the standings. Tempo Storm finished the NPL Royale in first place.
Next up for the team is Week 4 of the NPL.
